One of the most common struggles cited by LGBTQ youth is isolation. Many LGBTQ youth don’t know anyone in their school or their lives who identify as LGBTQ, and if they do, those experiences may not align with their own. Some LGBTQ youth also grapple with their religious and faith backgrounds as they come to terms with their sexual and gender identities.
