“Deafening Modernism: The Politics and Poetics of Communicative Norms”

With a discussion by Stephanie Kerschbaum (University of Delaware)

Information: The seminar will be in RH (Keating 124) and LC (Lowenstein 614) linked by videoconference from 12 to 1:30 on Wed. Feb 24th, 2016. Lunch will be provided. Feel free to forward this invitation to other faculty and students who might be interested. The speaker will be in RH.

Speaker: Rebecca Sanchez is an assistant professor of English at Fordham University. Her work on modernist literature, disability studies, literary and cultural theory, and poetics has appeared in journals including American Literary Realism, Modern Language Studies, and the CEA Critic. Her first book, Deafening Modernism: Embodied Language, Visual Poetics and American Literature, was published in 2015 with New York University Press.  She is currently working on a project that explores representations and experiences of homelessness in the early twentieth century for which she won a 2015-16 AAUW postdoctoral research fellowship.
“Disability Research across  Disciplines” is a seminar series organized by the Faculty Working Group on Disability and funded by the Provost Office.
