NYFTSA is a statewide, student-run organization that aims to help interested students gain experience in and learn about the film and television industry. Together with the Governor’s Office of TV and Film Development and connected with chapters at schools all around New York, the organization has given students the opportunity to meet and speak with current working professionals, tour the sets of popular television shows, and create a network of peers that may prove useful in their endeavors.
Last year was NYFTSA’s inaugural year at Fordham. We held numerous events including screenings and discussions of classic films , panels of Fordham Alumni now working in the industry, live readings of Fordham student screenplays, trips to studios around NYC, and Q and A’s with industry professionals. Last year’s guests included writers and producers from Blazing Saddles, Baywatch, Monk, Bolt, Tangled, Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen, Big Hero 6, Zootopia, and Moana.
Spend a day of insightful discussion and Q & A on the latest ideas, innovations, and developments in the world of film and television — featuring NYC-based industry professionals from all parts of the entertainment business. Ideal for media students seeking a career in film and television, and a great networking opportunity for pros and non-pros alike.
